• The Santos team entered the final stage of their preparation for the match against América next Sunday.
• The Warriors will train tomorrow in a morning session at Territorio Santos Modelo, as part of the five sessions scheduled this week before traveling to Mexico City.
• Felipe Sánchez has been a starter in the first two matches of the verdiblancos in the current tournament.
A few days before the match against América, corresponding to matchday 3, Santos defender Felipe Sánchez spoke to the media at Estadio Corona, where he shared his thoughts on the start of the tournament, his adaptation to the team, and the challenge of visiting the azulcrema squad.
The 22-year-old Argentine defender, born in the city of Santa Fe, spoke about his feelings after his debut at Estadio Corona against Atlas FC, acknowledging that, despite the result, the team showed positive aspects in their performance:
“Honestly, the feelings were positive for my home debut, although the result spoiled the night, but I feel we showed a good style of play. The ball just didn’t go in, but beyond that, I felt very good.”
Looking ahead to Sunday’s match, Sánchez acknowledged the difficulty of facing the América team but highlighted the strengths of the Santos squad:
“América is a very strong team, everyone knows that, but the truth is that we also have our tools, so we’re going to fight to earn the three points.”
Regarding the preparation for this match, the defender emphasized the analysis the team is conducting throughout the week to arrive in the best possible shape for the game:
“We are analyzing the opponent well; there are still a few days left before the match, so we are working hard and focusing on ourselves.”
On his adaptation process under the guidance of Renato Paiva, the Argentine player expressed feeling comfortable with the Portuguese coach’s approach and the instructions he has received in these early matches:
“Renato Paiva has given me new instructions, I’m getting to know him, and honestly, I’m feeling very comfortable with his style of play.”
Finally, Felipe Sánchez spoke about the partnership he has started to build with Franco Pardo in the Santos defense, highlighting the progress they have made between the first and second matches of the championship:
“The first match against Monterrey was tough because we didn’t know each other that well, but against Atlas, we played a great game, we were solid, and we only had one issue that we are already working on to ensure it doesn’t happen again. I’m feeling very good with him.”
In this way, the Warriors continue their preparation at Territorio Santos Modelo, focused on their next match in the Apertura 2026 Tournament.
