- Santos Laguna came from behind at the Nemesio Díez Stadium and defeated Toluca 3-2, with goals from Ezequiel Bullaude, Kevin Palacios, and Fran Villalba.

In a highly intense match, the Guerreros staged an important comeback in Mexican territory, overcoming a two-goal deficit to secure three points in matchday 9 of the Apertura 2026 Tournament.

During the opening minutes, Santos had to withstand the attacks of the home team, with Carlos Acevedo playing a key role in keeping a clean sheet for the verdiblanco goal with a couple of timely saves.

In the 13th minute, Luis Ángel Gómez set up Mauricio Cuevas, who attempted a right-footed shot from the edge of the box, but the home defense managed to block his attempt. Four minutes later, Toluca responded with a shot from Bullaude that was saved by the goalkeeper.

The Red Devils opened the scoring in the 25th minute when Federico Viñas appeared inside the box to head the ball into the net, making it 1-0.

Santos tried to respond and came close to equalizing with a through pass from Bullaude to Esteban Lozano, who was in a favorable position, but the home goalkeeper managed to intervene. In the 41st minute, Lozano created danger again with a header that went just wide of the goal.

Toluca extended their lead in the 43rd minute through Paulinho, who finished inside the box to make it 2-0.

However, the Guerreros kept pushing and were rewarded before halftime. In added time, Ezequiel Bullaude appeared to pull one back for Santos. Shortly after, Everardo López was sent off for Toluca following a VAR review, leaving the home team with one less player for the second half.

For the second half, Renato Paiva made his first substitution, bringing on Fran Villalba for Salvador Mariscal to add more depth to Santos' attack.

Santos took the initiative from the start of the second half and began to apply more pressure on the home goal. The Guerreros created danger from the flanks and maintained a constant search for the equalizer, while Toluca also managed some approaches despite playing with ten men.

In the 68th minute, Paiva made two more changes, introducing Eduardo Aguirre and Kevin Palacios in place of Luis Ángel Gómez and Esteban Lozano. Later, in the 74th minute, Javier Güémez came on for Facundo Caseres.

Santos' persistence paid off in the 86th minute. Kevin Palacios took the ball outside the box and unleashed a spectacular left-footed shot that nestled into the bottom left corner of the home goalkeeper's net, making it 2-2.

Santos pushed for more in the final minutes. In stoppage time, the Guerreros maintained the pressure and, after creating a new chance that was disallowed, finally found the winning goal.

In the 90+5th minute, Fran Villalba received the ball near the edge of the box and fired a precise shot that beat the Toluca goalkeeper, completing the comeback and sealing the 3-2 victory.

With this result, the Guerreros secured an important away win and capped off a night of great resilience at the Nemesio Díez Stadium.
