The Santos Zacatecas Academy continues its participation in the Santos Peñoles International Cup 2026, consolidating an experience that, beyond sports, significantly contributes to the personal and formative development of its players.

With 14 editions held, this tournament, driven by Club Santos Laguna and Industrias Peñoles, has established itself as a platform that promotes sports as a driver of social reconstruction, while also transmitting and strengthening the values shared by both institutions.

Juan Francisco Orozco, Coordinator of this Academy, highlighted the significance of this tournament for its players, emphasizing that it represents a unique opportunity for growth both on and off the field:

“For our children, it means experiencing something that shapes them in every way: they learn to compete, coexist, respect rules, manage emotions, overcome nerves, and understand that daily effort has a purpose.”

During the competition days, the Coordinator emphasized the value of each experience lived by the players, both on and off the field:

“Every moment counts: traveling together, sharing, encouraging each other, celebrating, and also learning from defeat. The children understand that the team is above the individual, strengthening trust, communication, and a sense of belonging.”

He also highlighted the sporting impact of participating in a tournament of this level, considered one of the most important in the country, bringing together more than 430 teams and nearly 7,000 players, including international representatives:

“This type of tournament not only develops soccer players but also shapes people with character, values, and life skills. They learn discipline, resilience, responsibility, and how to compete in real scenarios.”

Finally, Orozco emphasized the importance of interacting with teams from other cities and countries as a key factor in the comprehensive development of the players:

“Sharing with players from other contexts broadens their minds, teaches them new ways of understanding the game, and reinforces values such as respect, friendship, and teamwork. Soccer demonstrates that it unites borders and leaves lessons that go beyond the result.”
