Santos Laguna U-21 started their participation in the Apertura 2026 Tournament on the right foot, after defeating Rayados de Monterrey by a score of 2-1 in a match corresponding to Matchday 1, held on Saturday morning at the El Barrial facilities.

The home team took the lead during the first half, but the Warriors showed character and the ability to respond in the second half to turn the score around.

In the 60th minute, forward Magnus López equalized the game with a precise shot inside the box. Later, in the final stretch of the match, a set-piece play resulted in an own goal by the Monterrey defense, sealing the comeback for the Albiverdes.

With this result, Santos Laguna U-21 earned their first three points of the tournament.

The Warriors will return to action next Saturday, July 25, when they host Atlas FC at Territorio Santos Modelo, as part of Matchday 2 of the Apertura 2026 Tournament.
