As part of the activities of Winning by Serving and Warriors of the Heart, members of the Men's and Women's First Teams of Santos Laguna visited the Instituto de Desarrollo Integral de La Laguna (IDI), an institution dedicated to providing care and tools to promote the integral development and inclusion of people with disabilities.
During the visit, the players learned about the work carried out in this space and shared a special moment with the children and youth who are part of its community.
During the visit, Amaya Arias, Samantha Calvillo, Karla Rodríguez, Karen de León, and Carol Soto from Santos Laguna Femenil, as well as Facundo Caseres, Kevin Palacios, Emmanuel Echeverría, Efraín Orona, and Tahiel Jiménez from the Men's First Team, toured the facilities, learned about some of the activities conducted at the Institute, and interacted with its members.
Through conversations, smiles, and moments of connection, the footballers were able to learn more about the stories and experiences of those who attend the IDI daily, in a visit that also provided valuable lessons for the players themselves.
This activity was part of the recent actions of Warriors of the Heart, which also included a visit to CRIT Durango in Gómez Palacio, where members of both First Teams toured the facilities and spent time with the children and adolescents who are part of this Rehabilitation Center.
For Facundo Cáseres, this was a new experience since joining Santos Laguna and an opportunity to witness a different reality from his daily life as a footballer.
“It’s the first time I’ve done something like this, and I think it’s a spectacular initiative. Seeing how the kids develop, how they acquire tools for their lives, seems very valuable to me. It’s a great initiative by the IDI and also by Santos Laguna for giving visibility to these kinds of actions, which I believe are very beneficial for society.”
The Argentine midfielder also highlighted what he gained from sharing this moment with the children and youth of the Institute.
“Above all, seeing the kids develop and be happy. Even though their path may have been a bit hindered at birth, here there are people who help them grow, communicate, and be happy. Honestly, seeing them happy and enjoying themselves is something that brings a lot of comfort.”
For her part, Karen de León especially enjoyed the opportunity to connect with a different reality and share with the children and youth of the IDI.
“The truth is, we are very happy to be here, with our hearts full of joy. Above all, I think these kinds of experiences help us become aware of this reality and understand that all these children need our support and companionship.”
The midfielder also emphasized the importance of footballers having the opportunity to learn about and contribute to spaces beyond the field.
“These kinds of activities surprise us a lot because it’s important to understand other realities and the different areas where we can contribute outside of football and what we experience daily within the Club.”
Through these kinds of encounters, Santos Laguna continues to create opportunities for its players to connect with the community, learn about other stories, and share what it means to be a Warrior beyond the field.
