The Santos Laguna forward, Eduardo "El Mudo" Aguirre, addressed the media this Wednesday in a press conference held at the recently renovated Bar Verdiblanco of Territorio Santos Modelo, ahead of the match against Atlas FC, corresponding to matchday 2 of the Apertura 2026 Tournament.

In his return to the institution that shaped him as a footballer, the homegrown albiverde player expressed his enthusiasm for wearing the Warriors' jersey again and highlighted his determination to help the team regain prominence:

"I am very happy to return to Santos Laguna. I feel very content and eager to turn around the poor tournaments the team has had. I am ready to contribute."

Regarding the debut in the tournament against Monterrey, Aguirre acknowledged that the team showed a better version in the second half, an aspect they aim to build on for their home presentation:

"About the match against Monterrey, we had a poor first half, especially in the part where they scored three goals against us, but in the second half, we tried to turn things around a bit. There were good feelings, and that is something we want to improve for the next match."

Looking ahead to this Saturday's match against Atlas FC, the albiverde forward emphasized the importance of securing three points and starting to strengthen the bond with the Santos fans again:

"It is important to get the three points, no matter the opponent. We are facing Atlas FC; we need to win and reconnect with the fans because that is very important to think about having a great season. We hope to achieve victory this Saturday at Estadio Corona."

Regarding his role within the team, Eduardo Aguirre reiterated his willingness to contribute from any position, always prioritizing the collective benefit and group objectives:

"Lucas di Yorio is a great forward and a goal scorer. Whether I play alongside him or come in as a substitute, I am fully willing. When I decided to return, it was because I wanted to be part of turning this situation around for Santos Laguna. I don't have a specific goal tally in mind; I want to contribute as much as possible, whether with goals or assists. I am completely at the team's disposal."

Finally, "El Mudo" directed a message to the Santos fans, inviting them to get excited and support the team in this new process:

"I invite the fans to get excited with us. I feel it is going to be a great tournament for the team. The work being done is very good, and that positive energy is being transmitted within the group. It is going to be a good tournament; I know we will deliver results."
