THE WARRIORS DEFEAT NY COSMOS IN NEW JERSEY

• The support of the Guerrera Fans was once again present on U.S. soil. The Warriors Without Borders accompanied the First Team of Santos Laguna during the preparation match against NY Cosmos.

The First Team of Santos Laguna secured a 2-1 victory against NY Cosmos this Sunday at the Hinchliffe Stadium, in the final match of the albiverde squad during their stay in the United States as part of the Guerrera Preseason.

The match represented the third test for the Warriors during the Guerrera Preseason ahead of the Apertura 2026 Tournament and the 2026 Leagues Cup.

The Warriors started the match with Héctor Holguín; Javier Abella, Franco Pardo, Kevin Balanta, Emmanuel Echeverría; Carlos Gruezo, Salvador Mariscal, Diego González, Fran Villalba, Ezequiel Bullaude, and Lucas di Yorio.

The score opened as early as the 8th minute when Diego González capitalized on an assist from Carlos Gruezo to score inside the box and make it 1-0 in favor of the Santos team. With this goal, the Paraguayan forward tallied his second consecutive goal in the preparation stage.

Before halftime, in the 40th minute, Santos Laguna extended their lead through Lucas di Yorio. The Argentine forward rose inside the box to head in a cross sent from the left side by Fran Villalba, also achieving his second consecutive goal in the preseason.

At the start of the second half, Juan Carlos Echilvestre and Ramiro Sordo came on for Emmanuel Echeverría and Ezequiel Bullaude.

A few minutes later, Efraín Orona substituted Kevin Balanta.

In the 64th minute, Eduardo Aguirre, Tahiel Jiménez, and Aldo López replaced Fran Villalba, Lucas di Yorio, and Carlos Gruezo.

Shortly after, the Cosmos team scored a consolation goal.

In the final substitution window, Giovanni Pérez, Joshua Mancha, and Kevin Picón came on for Diego González, Javier Abella, and Franco Pardo.

After this match, the team will have a recovery day on Monday. Subsequently, on Tuesday, they will hold a gym session before traveling to Mexico City.

Finally, on Wednesday, the Warriors will return to Torreón to continue their preparation in the Comarca Lagunera.
