• This Tuesday, the Warriors will hold their final training session in the United States before embarking on their journey back to the Comarca Lagunera, with a stop in Mexico City.

• Fran Villalba recorded an assist in the match against NY Cosmos, where he was part of the starting eleven.

As the preparation phase in the United States nears its conclusion, midfielder Fran Villalba shared his thoughts on the work done by Santos Laguna, highlighting the team's progress and the confidence with which they will approach the start of the Apertura 2026 Tournament.

“The truth is that the preseason is going well; a great group has been formed. There are very good people, and little by little, we are adapting to what Renato Paiva is asking of us.”

The Spanish player noted that, regardless of the nature of the matches played, achieving positive results always strengthens the group.

“The team is leaving with two victories; it’s always important to win. It has shown that it is improving and will be ready for the start of the season.”

Villalba also highlighted the integration of the new players into the squad, assuring that their addition increases internal competition and strengthens the team across all lines.

“The truth is that all those who have joined are good reinforcements and will contribute a lot to us. For example, Diego González is already contributing with two goals in these two matches.”

Regarding the playing style proposed by the Portuguese coach, the midfielder assured that the team is working to establish an identity based on prominence and collective solidity.

“Renato Paiva comes with a clear idea: to make the team a protagonist and to keep us united, which is the word that is repeated the most. His style of play will help the team a lot.”

Finally, the Spaniard referred to the start of the Apertura 2026 Tournament, reiterating that the goal will be to compete from the very first matchday.

“Being a very competitive team with very clear ideas, we have to go to Monterrey to fight for the three points.”

After nearly ten days of intense preparation in the United States, this Monday the Santos squad will dedicate the day to recovery.

Tuesday morning's session will mark the end of the training camp in the United States. Subsequently, the Warriors will embark on their journey back to the Comarca Lagunera, where they will continue their preparation throughout the rest of the week at the Territorio Santos Modelo facilities.
