The Santos Peñoles Cup 2026 continues to establish itself as a space for inclusion and social development through the Guerreros de Corazón-Duxy Finanzas category, which held its second day of activities today at the Territorio Santos Modelo facilities.

Driven by Club Santos Laguna, Peñoles, and the Guerreros de Corazón program, this category reaffirms the commitment to creating spaces where soccer becomes a tool for integration for people with intellectual disabilities.

Teams from various parts of the country continue to gain experiences both on and off the field, in an environment where camaraderie, respect, and passion for soccer take center stage.

Armando Avendaño, coach of Integración Deportiva para Todo A.C. from Chiapas, highlighted the importance of this competition for his players:

“We look forward to this cup all year; we prepare for it. The players and their families always await it with great anticipation. Here, we have an incredible experience; it’s both social and athletic recreation. Additionally, getting to know the Territorio Santos Modelo facilities and the attention from the Club makes us feel like hosts.”

On the experience of competing in a professional setting, he added:

“The boys feel an immense excitement playing at TSM; these are professional facilities, and they experience the matches with greater intensity. They always tell me how beautiful the fields are. It’s very valuable to provide a space for athletes with intellectual disabilities within such an important tournament.”

Finally, Avendaño emphasized the social impact of this initiative:

“From this tournament, the boys take away great friendships; they have interacted with young people from Comarca Lagunera, Monterrey, Chihuahua, and other regions of the country. It’s something very beautiful, a very enriching experience. We appreciate the commitment to the social aspect.”
