Before the match against the Azulcremas, the Ecuadorian midfielder shared her thoughts on the team's preparation and the enthusiasm with which they approach the tournament:
"I feel very happy and excited to start a new tournament with Santos. It has been a very tough preseason, but the work we have done has been very beneficial. These weeks were very demanding; we have worked on the physical aspect and had preparation matches that set us up to start the tournament well. We are very happy that the competition is finally starting."
Regarding the preparation matches played in recent weeks, Doménica highlighted the level of challenge they represented for the group and the lessons learned ahead of the start of the official competition.
"The preparation matches were very demanding. From the tour in the center of the country, we were able to return without knowing defeat; unfortunately, against Rayadas, we lost by the minimum difference, but those matches helped us to arrive in the best way for the start of the Apertura 2026."
As for the expectations for the new tournament, the Santos captain assured that the team is ready to continue growing and to reflect the work done on the field.
"I feel very excited and hopeful to wear these colors again. Expectations are high; I feel that Santos is capable of much more. We have competed well, but it is time to take the next step and earn more points."
Finally, Rodríguez sent a message to her teammates, highlighting the commitment they have shown during the preseason and her confidence in the group to achieve the set goals.
"I want to tell my teammates thank you for the work we have been doing throughout this preseason. We know it hasn’t been easy, but each one has contributed their part, and I am sure that together we will reach our goal."
