The Mexico U-20 National Team achieved one of the main objectives of the 2026 Concacaf U-20 Championship: securing their qualification for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games, after defeating Canada 2-1 in the Semifinals held at the Azteca Stadium.
With this result, El Tricolor advanced to the Final of the tournament and secured their ticket to the Olympic competition. In the match against the Canadian team, Guerreros players Juan Carlos Echilvestre and Luis 脕ngel G贸mez participated, while Sahiel Cedillo remained an option as a substitute.
Juan Carlos Echilvestre once again appeared in the starting lineup, while Luis 脕ngel G贸mez came on as a substitute and contributed in the offensive sector, creating a couple of dangerous opportunities for the national team.
Qualification for the Olympic Games represents a new milestone for the Mexican team, which had previously secured their spot in the 2027 FIFA U-20 World Cup by advancing to the Semifinals.
Now, Mexico will have the opportunity to close the tournament as Concacaf champions when they face the United States in the Final, scheduled for this Sunday at the Azteca Stadium.
In this way, Juan Carlos Echilvestre, Sahiel Cedillo, and Luis 脕ngel G贸mez will aim to cap off their international participation by lifting the Concacaf U-20 Championship title.
