This Sunday, the Guerreros will face their third preparation match and final commitment on U.S. soil, when they take on NY Cosmos at Hinchliffe Stadium at 5:00 pm (New Jersey time).
The match against NY Cosmos will represent a new test for Santos Laguna against a club with tradition and history in U.S. soccer.
The Santos squad will travel on Sunday morning to New Jersey to fulfill this international commitment.
After the match, the team will have a recovery day on Monday. Subsequently, on Tuesday, they will hold a gym session before traveling to Mexico City, where they will stay overnight.
Finally, on Wednesday, the Guerreros will return to Torreón to continue their preparation in the Comarca Lagunera.
It is worth noting that in the press conference prior to this match, two Santos players shared their thoughts on the commitment. Defender Javier Abella commented:
“We know well what NY Cosmos is. We are aware of the history and importance of the Club in the United States. On our part, we are excited and happy to play this match. We are in a preseason process, preparing for the start of our tournament, and playing against a historic team is an extra motivation for us.”
Meanwhile, forward Lucas di Yorio added:
“For us, it is a special match because it brings new experiences and challenges in soccer. When there are new experiences, the motivation is always there. We are in this preseason process, so these matches are good for us. This match against NY Cosmos will be very important for us to see how we have been working. The team is motivated by this experience in the United States.”
