The First Team of Santos Laguna began a new week of work this Monday at Territorio Santos Modelo, focusing their preparation on this Thursday's international match against América de Cali, which will represent the last preseason commitment before the start of the Apertura 2026 Tournament.
After the tour in the United States, during which they played two preparation matches, the Warriors will host the historic Colombian team this Thursday, July 9, at 7:00 PM at Estadio Corona, in a match that will mark the return of an international preparation game to the Santista venue.
The main highlight of the practice was the incorporation of Argentine defender Felipe Sánchez, who conducted his first training session under the orders of coach Renato Paiva alongside the rest of the squad.
Trained in the Youth Academy of Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata, Sánchez debuted with the First Team of the Argentine club in 2023. He later made the leap to German football to join FC Schalke 04, a club with which he played during the 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 seasons, contributing to the team's promotion to the top division after winning the Bundesliga 2 championship.
With his addition, Felipe Sánchez becomes the sixth reinforcement for the Warriors for the Apertura 2026, joining Diego González, Eduardo Aguirre, Joshua Mancha, Franco Pardo, and Mauricio Cuevas.
Santos Laguna will continue their preparation at Territorio Santos Modelo with morning training sessions on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday, fine-tuning the final details before the start of a new campaign.
The Warriors' schedule for the rest of the week will be as follows:
Tuesday 7: Morning training at TSM.
Wednesday 8: Morning training at TSM.
Thursday 9: Match vs. América de Cali | 7:00 PM | Estadio Corona.
Friday 10: Morning training at TSM.
