Santos Laguna fell by a score of 3-0 against América this afternoon at the Banorte Stadium, in a match corresponding to matchday 3 of the Apertura 2026 Tournament.

The Warriors had a strong first half, creating multiple dangerous opportunities in front of América's goal, though they were unable to capitalize on them.

América took the lead just two minutes in, with a header from Henry Martín.

Despite the disadvantage, the Santos team maintained an offensive stance and created several chances. In the 21st minute, Ezequiel Bullaude delivered a great pass to Eduardo Aguirre, who controlled the ball and shot low, only to be stopped by Rodolfo Cota.

A minute later, there was an action inside América's penalty area where a penalty was called for a foul by Cota on Franco Pardo. After a VAR review, the referee determined there was no infraction and controversially resumed the match.

Later, in the 29th minute, Ramiro Sordo came close to equalizing after a low cross from Mauricio Cuevas on the right side, but his shot was deflected by the defense.

Santos Laguna created danger again in the 35th minute, when Bullaude and Aguirre had two consecutive opportunities that were saved by the home goalkeeper. Four minutes later, Fran Villalba tried a powerful shot to the top corner, which was again deflected by the goalkeeper.

In the final moments of the first half, Renato Paiva's team continued to seek the equalizer, with attempts from Aldo López and Bullaude, as well as another chance from Sordo after a cross from Cuevas.

For the second half, Diego González replaced Sordo. América created some chances in the opening minutes, while Santos maintained their intent to attack.

In the 59th minute, Bullaude received the ball inside the area and shot to the near post, with the ball hitting the side netting.

In the 62nd minute, Santos made two substitutions: Salvador Mariscal and Ezequiel Bullaude left the field to make way for Javier Güémez and Lucas Di Yorio.

Carlos Acevedo also had a standout performance, making a great save in the 71st minute against a header from Henry Martín, in a play that was later ruled offside for the América forward.

América extended their lead in the 72nd minute with an individual play by Brian Rodríguez, who finished with a cross-shot.

In the 74th minute, Renato Paiva was sent off. In the same minute, Kevin Palacios entered the field, replacing Aldo López.

The Warriors made a final substitution in the 80th minute, with Joshua Mancha coming on for Eduardo Aguirre.

In the final stretch, Santos Laguna continued to look for a goal. In the 85th minute, Lucas Di Yorio had a shot that was deflected by the defense for a corner kick, while Carlos Acevedo made another save against a shot from Erick Sánchez.

In added time, in the 93rd minute, Di Yorio had a chance inside the area, but his shot was saved by América's goalkeeper. Later, Acevedo made another save against a shot from Brian Rodríguez.
