Santos Laguna held the official presentation of Renato Paiva as the new Head Coach of the First Team this Thursday, during a press conference at the Orlegi Auditorium in Territorio Santos Modelo, led by Alejandro Irarragorri Kalb, President of the Club, and Gonzalo Pineda, Director of Football for the First Team.

Alejandro Irarragorri Kalb highlighted the importance of this addition within the institution's ongoing sports restructuring process:

“We are very happy to announce and welcome Renato Paiva and his Coaching Staff. We are very excited to begin this new process, which we want to be medium- and long-term. In Renato, we found a profile that knows the institution very well, understands what we need to move forward, and can build a solid project aligned with our vision and the style of play we want to develop.”

Additionally, the President of Club Santos Laguna stated that the Club will continue to promote structural changes to strengthen all sports and administrative areas:

“Today, rather than reproaching ourselves, we are making changes; from investments in infrastructure and improvements in Territorio Santos Modelo to strengthening our sports and administrative structure. To elevate the level of the squad, we must be very precise. Efforts will be made to reinforce positions, maintain the development ladder, and have a much more competitive team.”

For his part, Gonzalo Pineda expressed his commitment to this new responsibility within the institution and emphasized the importance of building a comprehensive sports vision:

“I feel very happy and grateful for the opportunity to take on this new role. It is a very demanding challenge that will require 100% of my attention, effort, and commitment, so that together we can co-create the future we want for this important institution in Mexican football.”

He also emphasized that the Club's sports planning will be based on a clear football identity aligned with the history of Santos Laguna:

“Before thinking about assembling the team, we must define the institutional style of play we want at Santos Laguna. Today, we have it very clear: it is based on the Club's history, its values, and the desires of our fans. Building the squad will be an integral, interdisciplinary, and highly analytical task. We must be smart in decision-making.”

In his first message as Head Coach of the Warriors, Renato Paiva expressed his pride in joining an institution with a strong identity and regional roots:

“I want to convey to the fans the pride I feel in representing a Club that is more than just a Club; it is a very important representative of La Laguna and the entire Comarca Lagunera. Santos Laguna is an institution that, in just a few years, has built a history full of success, and that excites me greatly as a professional.”

The Portuguese strategist acknowledged the current sporting situation of the team and reaffirmed his commitment to leading a solid and long-term project:

“I am aware that this is not an easy time, but that is precisely why we are here. The conversations with the Board were very important to me; I found a serious project, a clear vision for change, and a structure with great ambition. I am not here just to change results; I am here to build a process that generates results and allows us to recover a clear football identity.”

He also highlighted the connection he found between the identity of Santos Laguna and the meaning of being Warriors:

“The word Warriors has a very strong sense of identity with this region, with the history of effort, growth, and overcoming challenges in La Laguna. That ability to face adversity is precisely what strengthens this Club.”

Finally, Renato Paiva sent a message to the Santos fans:

“As of today, I am proudly the coach of Santos Laguna. To our fans, I promise dedication, seriousness, and great professionalism. We want to build a leading, competitive team that represents this institution with dignity both on and off the field.”
