THE SANTOS PEÑOLES CUP 2026 WILL INCLUDE A CATEGORY FOR PEOPLE WITH INTELLECTUAL DISABILITIES
As part of its commitment to inclusion and social development, Club Santos Laguna, Industrias Peñoles, and the social responsibility program Guerreros de Corazón are once again promoting the intellectual disability category within the Santos Peñoles Cup 2026.
This initiative reaffirms the philosophy of all those involved: soccer is a space for everyone.
Aimed at individuals with intellectual disabilities between the ages of 12 and 35, this category's main objective is to foster inclusion, sports development, and healthy coexistence, using sports as a tool for social integration and the strengthening of physical and emotional skills.
The activities will take place from April 30 to May 3 at Territorio Santos Modelo, where teams, associations, and sports institutions will experience a formative and competitive event in a professional and safe environment.
Beyond the competition, this category stands out for promoting values such as respect, empathy, and teamwork. An example of this is that after each foul during the matches, players must shake hands, reinforcing the spirit of fair play and camaraderie.
Participation in this category is free and includes a kit and medal for all participants, recognizing the effort and dedication of each team.
This edition will feature 10 teams from different states of the country: Cuervos Down (Tijuana), Amour 21, Guerreros Intelectual A, Guerreros Intelectual B, Lobos Negros, Selección Chiapas, CAED 16, JR Mijares, FC Chihuahua, and Fucat.
With initiatives like this, the Santos Peñoles Cup continues to establish itself as a tournament that transcends sports, generating a positive impact on the community and demonstrating that inclusion is also played on the field.
The Santos Peñoles Cup is one of the most important children's and youth tournaments in Mexico. In addition to offering high-level sports competition, it promotes the values shared by Club Santos Laguna and Industrias Peñoles among children, youth, and families, contributing to the reconstruction of the social fabric.
Additionally, this tournament represents a significant impact for the region, generating an important economic boost thanks to the arrival of thousands of families, teams, and visitors, driving activity in various sectors and strengthening the development of the Comarca Lagunera.
