The Cosmos FC team from San Antonio, Texas, United States, is part of the international representatives participating in the Santos Peñoles International Cup 2026, one of the most important youth and children's tournaments in Mexico and Latin America.

The 2026 edition brings together thousands of soccer players from different states of the Mexican Republic and countries like the United States, establishing the Comarca Lagunera as a meeting point for sports development, camaraderie, and cultural exchange through soccer.

As part of their participation, Felipe Valtierra, Coordinator of the U.S. team, shared his vision of what this experience represents for his players, highlighting the sporting and developmental impact of competing in an event of this magnitude:

“For the players, it is a very big experience. They live it with great excitement, pride, and they feel like professional soccer players.”

Regarding the opening ceremony, he noted that the players experience it with a mix of excitement and nerves, enjoying every moment as they feel part of a highly significant international event.

He also highlighted what it means for the team to play matches at Territorio Santos Modelo, stating that it represents the fulfillment of a dream for many of the children and young players, as it is the home of Club Santos Laguna, which increases their motivation on the field.

As for the competition, he explained that the days are lived with great intensity, as the players strive to give their best performance on the field, while off the field they bond, have fun, and continue learning both within and beyond soccer.

In addition to the competitive level, the Santos Peñoles International Cup has established itself as a comprehensive training platform, promoting values such as respect, discipline, teamwork, and healthy coexistence among participants from different cultures and backgrounds.

Finally, Valtierra noted that interacting with teams from different regions and countries broadens the players' perspectives, allowing them to form new friendships, foster respect, and learn about different playing styles, thereby enriching their sports and personal experience.
