Club Santos Laguna announces the hiring of Renato Manuel Alves Paiva as Head Coach of the First Team of the Guerreros.

The incorporation of the Portuguese strategist is part of the sports restructuring that the Santista institution is undergoing, focused on driving a profound change to strengthen its working methodology and maximize sports performance through profiles with the necessary capabilities to enhance the different sports areas of the Club.

Renato Paiva, born in Castelo Branco, Portugal, is 56 years old and has an extensive career in football, with experience in Portuguese, Ecuadorian, Brazilian, and Mexican soccer.

Throughout his career, he has coached in the main leagues of the aforementioned countries, as well as in international competitions such as the FIFA Club World Cup, Copa Libertadores, Copa Sudamericana, and the Concacaf Champions League, among others.

The Lusitanian strategist completed his training process as a coach at Benfica in Portugal, where he led youth teams and Benfica B.

His first experience outside of Portugal was with Independiente del Valle in Ecuador, a team with which he won the league championship in 2021 and was recognized as the Best Head Coach of the year in that country.

In Mexican soccer, he coached Le贸n during the Apertura 2022 and later Toluca FC in the Clausura and Apertura 2024 tournaments, achieving qualification to the Liguilla in both semesters.

In Brazilian soccer, he coached Bahia, a club with which he won the Campeonato Baiano in 2023; Botafogo, a team with which he participated in the FIFA Club World Cup 2025, reaching the round of 16; and Fortaleza, in 2025.

Renato Paiva joins the Santista institution to face the sports challenges of the second half of 2026: the Apertura 2026 Tournament and the Leagues Cup 2026.
