As part of the preparation of the Mexico National Team for the 2026 World Cup, Santos Laguna's goalkeeper, Carlos Acevedo, was called up by coach Javier Aguirre.

The goalkeeper is part of the list of 20 national players who will begin training on May 6 at the High-Performance Center of the Mexican Football Federation, as part of their preparation for friendly matches against Ghana on May 22 at the Cuauhtémoc Stadium in Puebla, and against Australia on May 30 in Pasadena, California.

It is worth mentioning that the final list for the 2026 World Cup will be announced on June 1.

Carlos Acevedo finished the regular phase of the 2026 Clausura Tournament with 1,330 minutes played and a total of 55 saves.
