Santos' first team began day one of preseason ahead of the 2019 Clausura, where it will participate simultaneously in the regular Liga MX tournament and CONCACAF Champions League.
The Liga MX 2019 Clausura is slated for kick-off during the weekend of January 4, 5 and 6th. Los Guerreros will look to maintain their strong form in the new year, continuing with a majority of the base of last tournament's roster and some new additions - Diego Valdés, Brayan Garnica and Hugo Rodríguez reported for day one and trained with the group in the afternoon.
The team spent the better part of two hours under the command of first team physical trainer Luis Canay, where they worked on their physical fitness with resistance exercises, and finished with an intrasquad scrimmage.
Head Coach Salvador Reyes will lead the team throughout the week in double training sessions in the morning and evening, before setting off for Houston, Texas the morning of December 26th. The team will train in Texas for three days at Houston Sports Park, home to the Houston Dynamo of Major League Soccer, continuing their double sessions.
They will conclude their three days of work across the border with a preparation match against Club America at BBVA Compass Stadium, closing 2019 in an exciting game between the 2018 Clausura champion vs. the 2018 Apertura Champion.
