Since 2010, Yelitza has been “paying it forward” by preparing home-cooked meals for the homeless in Charlotte. She and her family serve at least 500 people each month in the Uptown area. Her son, Alex, serves alongside his mother every other Saturday, and while other kids are playing with their friends, Alex is making new ones and giving hope to the local homeless community.
During halftime at their game vs. local team Charlotte Independence, Santos Commercial and Marketing Director Jorge Fernandez gave Yelitza a team-signed jersey and club-branded soccer ball to Alex, to thank them for their example which falls in line with that of the club's philosophy: Winning by Serving is the Only Option.
