Santos Laguna looks to maintain upper hand over Tigres at TSM

19 de Agosto del 2018 9:15 am.

Los Guerreros wrapped up their week of preparation ahead of their week five game against Tigres on Sunday at Estadio Corona, putting the finishing touches on tactical details under the command of head coach Salvador Reyes.

The match against Tuca Ferretti's Tigres will be Reyes' first game as head coach in front of a home crowd.
The last time los Guerreros hosted Tigres at Estadio Corona was in the Quarterfinals of the 2018 Clausura, where the hosts walked away with the 2-0 victory to advance to the semifinals of the Liguilla.
Santos has only lost twice in their last 19 games where they've faced the University team from Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, which hasn't won a single game in Torreon since December of 2011.

Reyes insisted in his post-training press conference on Friday that the best way to maintain the record in their favor is to come out fighting from the beginning "with an equally powerful squad."

He emphasized: "We are the champions and our team has nothing to ask of Tigres. We have great internal competition within the group, with two or three players fighting for a starting role in each position. There is really no excuse (not to win), because we have what it takes to overcome the rival, and that is what we are going set out to do."
