Jonathan Orozco made a total of 66 saves throughout the 2018 Clausura, concluding the tournament as one of the top goalkeepers in the league.
Torreón, Coah., May 29, 2018.- Jonathan Orozco said upon his arrival that he came to become a champion with Santos Laguna.
That was in December of 2016. Barely a year and a half later, he completed his promise.
"When they presented me, I believed in this project," remarked the 32 year old goalkeeper.
"The first thing I said was that I came here to be a champion, and to leave my name in this institution. I am thankful to God that I was able to achieve it."
Upon the team victory in Toluca to claim their sixth leage title, Orozco commented: : "We are all heroes here. There was not a single man or player. We did it as a team, and we look to be better people, and that is what made us champions."
Orozco also gave credit to fellow goalkeeper and head coach Robert Dante Siboldi.
"Robert is s a very capable coach who showed us that he has the level to be a great technical director. He is a very humble person, one of his greatest virtues. We are very grateful because this championship is also his."
